Accidental falls are common among people with movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease (PD) and cerebellar ataxia. Falls decrease the quality of life and increasing the disease burden in this population. Preventing falls among people with movement disorders is, therefore, imperative. The prevalence of PD is anticipated to increase. The associated increase in falls is therefore expected to represent a major contribution to growing healthcare system costs. Our team focuses on assessment, risk identification and rhabilitative measures for preveitng falls mong people with PD, cerebellar ataxia and other movement disorders.
